A recognised qualification
The NEBOSH National General Certificate meets the requirements for Technician membership (TechIOSH) of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM)
The NEBOSH National General Certificate is accredited at Level 3 within the National Qualification Framework (NQF) by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland. The logos of these organisations will appear on the certificates awarded for the qualification.

NEBOSH National General Certificate in the Management of Health and Well-being at work
This new qualification will benefit all organisations seeking to improve the efficiency and morale of their workforce. The qualification equips managers to minimise absence, encourage people back to work where possible, and deal effectively with the health issues of their staff.
WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE IS THE COURSE FOR?
It is suitable for General Managers, Supervisors, HR Managers, and Safety Professionals, who have responsibility for, or involvement in, the health and well-being of employees as part of their day-to-day duties.
WHAT DOES THE COURSE COVER?
The syllabus is based on recognised best practice in management of health in the workplace and includes:
- Managing absence and return to work
- Recognising and dealing with substance abuse
- Preventing stress and dealing with mental ill health at work
- Disability discrimination and protecting health at work
- Assessing risks to health at work
- Working effectively with health professionals
- Workplace health promotion
- Preventing and Managing back pain
HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED?
The syllabus is divided into two units:
Unit 1: Managing Health and well-being in the workplace (assessed via written examination)
Unit 2: Practical assessment based on identification of workplace health and well-being issues in your own workplace
The first examination date is Friday 18th September. Please note no further examination is scheduled by NEBOSH for 2009 the next date is likely to be spring 2010
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
£795 per delegate (plus vat) including fees and materials. Funded learning may be available please ask for details. Funded learning for this qualification is not currently available to the Public Sector
HOW MANY PEOPLE ON A COURSE?
A single delegate can join an open course and at this stage all our scheduled courses are open. We can run closed courses with a minimum number of 6. The maximum number is 12.
