Premier selected to deliver
management training to the Nuclear
Decommissioning Agency
The NDA is a non-departmental public body launched in April 2005 to take strategic responsibility for the decommissioning and clean-up of all 20 of the UK public sector civil nuclear sites.
The NDA’s core objective is to ensure that the 20 civil public sector nuclear sites are decommissioned and cleaned up safely, securely, cost effectively and in ways that protect the environment for this and future generations.
The NDA has responsibility for the nuclear licensed sites formerly owned by British Nuclear Fuels Limited (BNFL) and the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA).
In November 2007, the NDA were also given responsibility for the implementation of the Geological Disposal Facility as part of the National Nuclear Waste strategy.
The NDA does not carry out the decommissioning work itself. The NDA has initial contracts with Site License Companies.
