Pen-Y-Ghent climb and cycling extravaganza raises over £3,700 for NSPCC
A team of adventurers from Doncaster-based training provider Premier Partnership successfully completed a one day challenge to climb Pen-y-Ghent followed by a 17 mile cycle in the beautiful Dales countryside, all in aid of the NSPCC Doncaster Therapeutic Support team. A cheque for £3700 will be handed over to the NSPCC team on Wednesday 27th May.
The 13-strong team climbed the 694 metre (2278ft) mountain in the Yorkshire Dales before swapping their hiking boots for cycling helmets and heading out on their bikes for a 17 mile cycle from Settle into the Yorkshire Dales and back again
Speaking after the challenge Terry Ryan, Business Support Manager said:
“In the Cumbric language Pen-y-Ghent means ‘hill of the winds’ and it certainly lived up to its reputation on our climb. “It was a physical and at times a physcological challenge for all members of the team but the satisfaction of completing the challenge made it all worthwhile”.
Directors at Premier Partnership challenged their employees to raise £2,000 for the NSPCC and the team, have smashed that target hitting £3,700
Katie Bland, NSPCC corporate fundraising manager said: “What a fantastic result from everyone at Premier Partnership – we know conditions on the day were not ideal so we are extremely grateful to them for going ahead and raising such a worthwhile total.
“This money really will make a difference to the lives of children and young people who we support through our Doncaster Therapeutic Support team and our vital help lines – Childline and the NSPCC Helpline for adults who are concerned about a child.”
