NSPCC Fund Raising Event December 19th 2008

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

On Friday December 19th one of our Directors, David Pearson dressed as Santa and was wheeled around the local business community in a wheelbarrow (pushed by another Director Alan Woodcock) .  These two gentlemen were accompanied by a group of “Elves” waving NSPCC collection tins. In just a couple of hours we collected £421.18p which is 21% of our target of £2000 to be raised by April 1st 2009.

We met a lot of really nice (and very generous) people working in business’s operating alongside ours here on Richmond Business Park. We would like to thank everyone that made a donation on the day. Plus an extra special thank you to the Managers, Partners and Directors who let us run around their business’s asking for donations to the NSPCC.

Recognising Harassment & Bullying is vital for organisations who want to succeed in 21st Century Britain, but it isn’t always easy

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

All levels of Management need to recognise and deal with situations where bullying (intentional or accidental) is undermining the confidence of individuals (or groups). The purpose of our programme is to show you how to deal with this difficult sensitive and potentially explosive issue

There are five business reasons why organisations should take bullying and harassment seriously

· Understanding and competing for customers

· Team Building

· Positive Public Relations

· Attracting the best employees

· Averting Legal Action

Harassment and Bullying Definitions

Harassment is defined as unwanted conduct affecting the dignity of people in the workplace. It may be related to age, sex, race, disability, religion, nationality or a personal characteristic of the individual, and may be persistent or an isolated incident

The intention of a harasser is not a deciding factor in identifying harassment. The critical factor is whether actions or comments are perceived as demeaning and unacceptable to the recipient

Bullying is defined as offensive, intimidating, malicious or insulting behaviour. It can be an abuse or misuse of power through means intended to undermine, humiliate, denigrate or injure the recipient. The majority of bullying behaviour is persistent, and psychological rather than physical. It is often an accumulation of individually minor incidents the cumulative effects of which can be devastating for the individual(s) and even an organisation

As part of the Dignity at Work Project Premier Partnership has provided anti bullying training in organisations as diverse as Royal Mail, British Airways, Coca Cola, NHS, HBOS, and BT.
